DATGANIAD I’R WASG Stori ‘Noa’ a’r ‘Mab Afradlon’ Y mae Cwmni Recordiau Aran yn rhyddhau CD ar gyfer plant ifanc sy’n cyflwyno’r ddwy stori yma o’r hen destament mewn geiriau a chân. Datblygwyd y deunydd gan dwy athrawes o Ddyffryn Conwy; “Ysgrifennais i’r caneuon i’r ‘Mab Afradlon’ fel rhan o sioe ysgol” meddai Ruth Lloyd Owen, “heb erioed feddwl buasai defnydd pellach iddynt, ond rwy’n falch iawn bod plant eraill yn mynd i gael cyfle i’w mwynhau”. Gwyneth Vaughan bu’n gyfrifol am ganeuon ‘Noa’. “Fe ofynnwyd i mi baratoi casét syml o’r plant yn canu’r caneuon, yna fe gafodd y caneuon ei drefnu ar gyfer amryw o offerynnau a’i hail recordio yn Stiwdio Aran”. Lleisiau bendigedig dwy gantores ifanc sydd i’w chlywed yn cyflwyno’r caneuon sef Siân Hughes a Ceri Griffiths. Yn adrodd y straeon ac yn gosod y caneuon yn eu cyd destun y mae’r actores Leisa Mererid, sy’n adnabyddus iawn i blant bach trwy ei waith ar raglenni ‘CYW’ i S4C. “Yn gyntaf roeddwn yn awyddus i’r CD cynnig adloniant i blant” meddai Owain Gethin, cydlynydd y prosiect “ond wrth gwrs mae hefyd yn adnodd ar gyfer gwaith dosbarth neu Ysgol Sul”. Ceir traciau heb lais ar ddiwedd y CD er mwyn i blant dysgu a pherfformio’r caneuon. Hefyd fe baratowyd copïau ysgrifenedig o’r sgript a’r caneuon a thrwy rhoi’r CD mewn cyfrifiadur mae’n bosib codi’r gwybodaeth yma o’r CD a’u printio allan.”Y syniad ydy i bawb ei ddefnyddio yn y ffordd sy’n briodol iddyn nhw” meddai Owain Gethin “ac wrth ystyried hynny mae’r cyfan wedi paratoi a’i recordio yng Nghymraeg ac yn Saesneg”.
Aran Records have released a CD for young children that presents these two stories from the old testament in words and in song. This material was developed by two teachers from the Conwy Valley: “I wrote the songs for ‘The Prodigal Son’ as part of a school show” says Ruth Lloyd Owen, “without ever thinking that it would go any further, but I’m very pleased that other children are now going to have the opportunity to enjoy them”. Gwyneth Vaughan is responsible for the songs for ‘Noah’. “I was asked to prepare a simple cassette recording of the children singing the songs, then the songs were arranged for a variety of instruments and re-recorded at Studio Aran”. The beautiful voices of two young singers can be heard performing the songs: Siân Hughes and Ceri Griffiths. The stories are recited by Leisa Mererid, who will be well known to young children as an actress on the new ‘Cei Bach’ series on S4C. “Firstly I was keen for the CD to be entertaining for the children” says Owain Gethin, the project co-ordinator, “ but of course it’s also a resource for the classroom and the Sunday School”. Backing tracks are to be found at the end of the CD as an incentive for children to perform the songs themselves. Written copies of the words and the music were also prepared and by putting the CD into a computer it’s possible to access these copies and print them out.”The idea is that people use the material in the way that best suits their own needs” says Owain Gethin “and with this in mind all the material is presented in both Welsh and English”.
